Page Six

"Page Six" is the gossip column section of the New York Post, which is one of the ten largest circulation newspapers in the United States.

How It's Used

“One of [Mickey Drexler’s] favorite newspapers is a tabloid, the New York Post; more precisely, it’s Page Six, the Post’s gossip sheet.”

—Nina Munk, “Gap Gets It: Mickey Drexler is turning his apparel chain into a global brand. He wants buying a Gap T-shirt to be like buying a quart of milk. But is this business a slave to fashion,” Fortune, August 3, 1998, p. 71

“She [Georgette Mosbacher] reads everything she can by Peter Lynch and Warren Buffett, and scours Forbes and The Wall Street Journal the way her neighbors search Page Six for their names.”

—Eva Pomice, “Educating Georgette:  There’s life after prenups.  Just keep your stockbroker on speed dial,” SmartMoney, February, 1999, p. 79.

“Filmed at her own Easthampton home, the Barefoot Contessa is as much about an idealized Hamptons' lifestyle as it is about food. The eastern tip of Long Island is famous for its high-society set pieces: the Page Six celebrities, the parties, and the polo.”

—Sara Dickerman, “Move Over, Martha:  Is Ina Garten heir to the lifestyle throne,” Slate, August 4, 2003.

“When it comes to charitable giving, the richest New Yorkers are no Magwitches.  If they crack their wallets for a cause like breast cancer research or landmark preservation, they expect a party in return.  A big one, where they can rub shoulders with moguls, society matrons and celebrities, and maybe get a mention in the New York Post’s gossip column, Page Six, to boot.”

—Thomas Jackson, “Acts of Charity,” Forbes FYI, Fall 2004, p. 102.

“But when a reporter asked Mr. Garcia about efforts by the accused inside traders to recruit exotic dancers to get information about pending deals from investment bankers, Mr. Garcia joked: 'Now you're getting into Page Six territory.’”

—Paul Davies, “Inside Gossip,” The Wall Street Journal, April 15, 2006, p. B3.
