The ancient city of Rome was built on seven hills. Today the city has expanded well beyond these original seven hills.
The Seven Hills appear in myths and literature right up to the present day. For example, in the Tony-Award-winning Broadway musical, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" (1962), which takes place in Ancient Rome, one of the characters is told to walk seven times around the seven hills to banish an evil spirit occupying his home.
Today, there are many cities that claim to have been built on seven hills.
