"Amid the wrangling, the Hyatt's thirsty have found refuge a few steps away in a dark bar that is also under Saudi ownership. Hassan bin Laden, half brother of Osama, is a prominent shareholder of the Hard Rock Cafe in the Grand Hyatt complex. Vatche Yacoubian, general manager of Cairo Hard Rock, said business has jumped since the hotel went dry. The bar has a liquor license and intends to keep using it, he said. He offered an Arab proverb to explain how two Saudi businessmen could be in such a standoff: 'Even the five fingers on your hand aren't the same, are they?'"

"Linda Richard, owner and operator of Baby Images, says parents also want to be reassured that everything is fine with the fetus. 'People like to see five fingers and toes or check for cleft palates … make sure everything is there,' she says."

"Drogba has started Chelsea's last eight games, re-establishing himself as a focal point in a team still involved in the Champions League and the FA Cup, and hopeful that Manchester United can yet be caught in the Premier League. The 31-year-old insisted that his below-par performances earlier in the season were solely down to a lack of fitness rather than his being unsettled at Stamford Bridge. 'Nobody can complain about my commitment,' he added. 'Players are different, it is like the five fingers on the hand - all different but they shine in different ways. I don't have any problem for another player to be more popular than me. I am not looking for this. I just try to have a great life, enjoy what I am doing and make people around me happy. Team spirit has always been good but when you lose it is difficult for people to get a smile on their face. When you win it makes things easier and everybody is more relaxed and comfortable.'"

"For starters, there are plenty of evolutionary biologists who believe that evolution, given long enough, was likely to create a smart, articulate species -- not our species, complete with five fingers, armpits and all the rest -- but some social species with roughly our level of intelligence and linguistic complexity."
—Robert Wright, "A Grand Bargain Over Evolution," The New York Times, August 23, 2009.
