The Y (Brigham Young University) Posted January 11, 2010 @ 2:35 am In Letters,Y | No Comments “The Y” is a nickname for Brigham Young University [1]. BYU was founded in 1875 and is located in Provo [2], Utah [3]. It is named for Brigham Young, the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1847 to 1877, the founder of Salt Lake City, and the first governor of the Utah territory. It has around 35,000 students. |
