The Big Ten Conference Posted July 22, 2009 @ 11:14 pm In Numbers,Ten | No Comments The Big Ten Conference is a group of universities that compete against each other in sports at the Division I, or highest level of competition. It was founded in 1896 and is the oldest Division I conference. Despite its name, the conference actually has eleven members. The current members of the conference are:
