How do I use this site?
Information on eAlmanac is arranged under the basic categories of colors, numbers, letters and shapes. If you’re not looking for a specific topic and just want to explore, click on any of these categories and see where your curiosity takes you. If you’re looking for a specific reference (for instance “Seinfeld”) you can enter it in the search bar to find related information. (In this case, Seinfeld is categorized under the number zero, since it was a “show about nothing.” Likewise, if you wanted to search for information about Chairman Mao, the information is shelved in the “red” color category.) Eventually we will have hundreds, or more, references under each basic category, as well as links to additional off-site information.
How are topics selected for eAlmanac?
The editors and writers of eAlmanac do not necessarily select topics to research for the site as much as the topics tend to present themselves to us. We are voracious readers, and so, new ideas and topics are constantly appearing on our pages. While this method is haphazard—and certainly not the best way in which to try to write a reference source basically from scratch—it does allow for a wide variety of topics to be covered, and for interesting and unexpected connections to be discovered. Read more in our About section.
How do I submit suggestions?
If you are interested in a particular topic that is not currently covered by the site or not covered as fully as it might be, we invite you to submit them here or email suggestions. Please note the topic of your suggestion in the subject line.
If I have a correction, link or idea for eAlmanac, how do I submit it?
We welcome user suggestions for links to other Web sites, corrections to eAlmanac content, new topics for us to write about, or products for inclusion in the eAlmanac Store. If you have a great link to share, an interesting product to bring to our attention, or an error to point to us please use our submission form or send an email with the topic listed in the subject line. At this time, we are not accepting submissions for payment.
Is eAlmanac appropriate for children?
Neither all of eAlmanac’s content, nor all of the links provided, are appropriate for young children—those under the age of 10 or so. We have tried to design the site with the thought that eAlmanac is like a family newspaper—certain uncomfortable issues and references come up in the news and are reported in a sensitive and mature manner. Whether fortunate or not, modern popular culture is increasingly prurient. The editors and writers at eAlmanac keep in mind both the goal of developing a valuable and complete reference source with the need to approach many topics with care and sensitivity. This is a fine line. If you feel that an issue or topic has not been handled appropriately, please send an email with the topic listed in the subject line.
